UNC Charlotte, with officials and educators from Shanxi University in China, will celebrate the opening of a Confucius Institute on the UNC Charlotte campus with a public program and reception on Wednesday, March 29.
The program, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will feature remarks from educators and performances by Shanxi University students The event at McKnight Hall in the Cone University Center is open to the public without charge but reservations are requested. Complementary parking will be provided in the Cone Parking Deck.
UNC Charlotte expects to the Confucius Institute this summer in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences’ Department of Languages and Culture Studies. The university is partnering with Shanxi University, a comprehensive university of arts and sciences located in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. Confucius Institute is intended to broaden the University’s outreach and support for language instruction and cultural opportunities in the Charlotte community.
