The community can access free, quality international cinema during the annual UNC Charlotte International Film Festival, for three weeks from March 15 to April 7, 2017 during screenings at the main campus and at UNC Charlotte Center City.
The festival features 23 films, 30 screenings and special events including screenings with several film directors. Special events include:
Films from China, Columbia, Cuba, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Peru, Russia, Spain, Syria, Turkey and Venezuela will be included in this year’s festival.
The UNC Charlotte International Film Festival and any related special events are free and open to the public; all films will have subtitles.
Under the leadership of French Professor Michèle Bissière, faculty in the Department of Languages and Culture Studies collaborate with student clubs and the Office of International Programs to obtain grants used to purchase the rights for screening the films.
